Founded more than 30 years ago, Tihama Retail is very well-established in the Kingdom. It adopts the latest strategies, evolving its business model and execution to meet the consumer’s changing needs and expectations through new sales outlets and marketing channels.

Our goal is to build on the great legacy of Tihama by cementing our position in the mind of the customer as a multi-faceted shopping destination for the whole family, while at the same time making our offerings relevant to the younger generation with fresh products and ideas.

Our Strategy

To continuously improve and differentiate our offering by making bold decisions and staying abreast of global trends. Tihama used to be seen primarily as a bookstore, however, the new Tihama will be something quite different. It will be a much more comprehensive, powerful and stand out brand. This involves substantial investment in product research, product development and market intelligence, as well as a thorough review of the shopping experience and changing demands of the customer.

Different Architectural Design

This new Tihama-branded retail style is characterized by an architectural approach that differs totally from what can currently be seen in the Saudi market. The space promises to be a game changer in the region. The plan, over the next five years, is to open 25 new branches with an area of ​​200-300 m2 each. This new approach, which will include spaces in major travel hubs, will be realized in partnership with the expertise and experience of the operations specialists at WH Smith, a legendary name in the field of stationery and bookstores.

What really sets Tihama apart from other companies in the field of bookstores is its long history. Many consumers talk nostalgically about the old Tihama bookstores remembering their childhood and the old familiar feeling of community. The concept of the new Tihama stores is to retain some of that nostalgia but to incorporate the latest retail space developments and practices to create a totally unique and eye-catching shopping experience for everyone.

Some branches will invite customers to do much more than shop, with offerings including comfortable chairs and sofas, freshly brewed coffee, delicious pastries and desserts. In short, they will offer a coffee shop within a shop.

Satisfied customers are what Tihama is all about and we pride ourselves on providing levels of product and service that make sure that everyone leaves the store with a smile. The recent launch of Tihama’s partnership with the brand will see WH Smith-branded stores opening throughout Saudi Arabia’s airports and transport hubs, further cementing our role as the region’s premier
retailer of stationery, books and magazines.
